I’ve never been a big “New Year’s Resolution” type of person. I find myself to be more of the “every day is a new day, why wait for tomorrow when you can do it today” kind of gal. Very motivational, I know.
But I think I’m going to jump on the bandwagon and resolve to do a few things for the new year. Alas, my top 3 resolutions for 2013:
- Make 20 friends. Since moving to Chicago I don’t have the group of college pals right next door. Don’t get me wrong, I love the besties that I have near and far, but being at the bar for NYE I realized that if 20 of us each paid $100 we could buy a VIP table and get bottle service all night. I’m all about the experience, and VIP is right up my alley. I need to make 20 friends this year.
- Delete more “friends” from facebook. While this may seem contradictory to my previous resolution I also believe in the quality of my friends. People who constantly post what/where they will be doing every second of their day… who cares???? Certainly not me. And for all the Negative Nancys that fill up my news feed with pathetic complaints, don’t you have something better to do? I know I would much rather be reading about real news like whats going on with the Fiscal Cliff and Kim K. and Kanye’s baby.
I have a friend who deletes people on their birthday if she doesn’t feel like they are good enough friends to say happy birthday to them. We call her the birthday bitch, I mean who really deletes people on their birthday? But I’m starting to think its a good idea and a proactive way to maintain quality control.
- Eat more Portillo’s. In general I am an advocate for healthy eating and working out. My trip to Trader Joe’s each week after leaving the gym consists of a cart full of fruits, veggies, and organic goodness. I believe being healthy by eating well and staying active is one of the most important things a person can do. But I also believe in being a real person, which includes splurging on hot dogs, namely Portillo’s. I am proud to say my first meal of 2013 was a feast at Portillo’s.
These are my 3 must do’s for 2013. It’s a hefty list but I think if I really put my mind to it I can accomplish anything (at least until February.)

Portillo’s is AMAZING.
