Saying that last year’s Mardi Gras was fabulous would be an understatement. Not only did I get to spend a night out with my favorite St. Norbert ladies, but also I conquered New Orleans.
There is no doubt that a trip to NOLA will be a disappointment when you ride a mechanical bull within the first few hours of being in the city. Followed by making friends with hunky Aussies who invited us to a Mary J. Blige concert, befriending the players of a D1 basketball team, eating tons of fro yo, and shopping enough that I had to seriously consider shipping things home I would say Mardi Gras 2012 was a success.
Mardi Gras weekend 2013 is merely two days away, and while I’m not going to be in New Orleans this year, I will be in Sou Lard, home of the 2nd biggest Mardi Gras celebration. I have high expectations for fun this year.
Given that I’ll be with Liz, Sarah, and Samantha (fellow Nas-T band members) I am certain it will be everything I can dream and more. Here are my Mardi Gras goals for this year:
- Ride a real animal. I don’t think I’m ready to move from a mechanical bull to a real bull, but a horse, large dog, lama, or camel would work great.
- Make more international friends. I have made friends from a variety of continents. Next on my list? Perhaps Antarctica, or Canada, they’re basically the same thing.
- Eat more delicious food. I’ve heard toasted ravioli is a St. Louis specialty, I plan to bury myself in it.
- Star in a concert. Last year I went to a concert, in order to step up my game this year I feel the next level is really putting on my own concert. Perfect timing for the Nas-T debut.
Can Mardi Gras 2012 be topped? I will do my best to try, but if not, I have a feeling a topless Mari Gras will do just fine. JUST KIDDING Grandma, just a little Mardi Gras bead humor.
But really, can it be topped? Stay tuned to see how embarrassing/amazing Mardi Gras 2013 is.
